Contact Atelier→The cup is fully three-dimensional — a miniature coffee cup complete with its saucer, cast in 18k yellow gold and finished with milgrain beading along both the rim and the saucer’s edge. The milgrain is not decorative shorthand; it is the same work done on antique pieces, applied here to something that exists between jewelry and private joke.
A faceted blue-grey sapphire sits set into the bowl of the cup, visible from above, as though it were the surface of the coffee itself. The stone catches light from the opening, deepening from slate blue in shadow to near-violet in direct sun.
The piece hangs from a jump ring through a rectangular bail on a fine 18k cable chain. Close up, it reads as craft. From a distance, it reads as charm.
This piece came from a question: what would it look like to make something completely unserious in a completely serious way? The cup form was modeled in wax over several sessions — the proportions kept adjusting until the saucer felt right relative to the cup, and the lip sat at the correct angle. The sapphire was selected for its specific grey-blue tone, which is close enough to espresso to hold the conceit.
